Here in Murwillumbah, we have missed quite a few days play due to some heavy showers. My family joke about seeing us out on the lawn wearing hats and raincoats but even our wet weather gear was not enough to keep us dry during some very heavy rain.
We did, however, have perfect conditions for two days, March 11 and 12, of play for the Margaret Mitchell Memorial tournament, an Association doubles handicap.
Gavin Clarke and Eunice Frater represented Southport; Malcolm Campbell and Ann Rawding Coolangatta; the Chapman gentlemen Geoff and Alex for Uranga; Val Smith and Paul Raphael for our local team.
Margaret Mitchell Memorial Results:
1st — Southport (Gavin Clarke & Eunice Frater) — 51 points
2nd — Uranga (Geoff & Alex Chapman) — 49 points
3rd — Coolangatta (Malcolm Campbell & Ann Rawding) — 43 points
