Northern Rivers Development Squad
The Northern Rivers Area Golf Croquet Development Squad is up and running again after a few years in recession. David Scott, the Co-ordinator, has been working with the players to fine tune their games to a high standard where players are confident in competing at the highest level of competition, with the potential to become representative players.
Some of the best players from Clubs are taking part: Phyllis Waters (Lismore), Sharon Daley (Ballina), Dennise Simmons (Byron Bay), Werner Borkhardt (Byron Bay), Simon Cook (Coutts Crossing), Ray Chapman (Cherry Street), Jim Hannigan (Cherry Street).
These players would no doubt fit into most representative sides, as all are extremely dedicated, highly talented and committed fully to Croquet. Already there has been many trophies gained by these players over the past few years at State Level.
Congratulations to David Scott on being selected for the training in NSW Golf Croquet squad — a squad of 20 players selected from NSW.

Twilight Golf Croquet has wound up for the season with daylight savings coming to an end. Many thanks to Robbie Allen, Wendy Gilmore and Bev Bill for their tireless hours put in to running the event which has given players an opportunity to play and enjoy the social game and activities in the cool of the evenings. Many thanks to all volunteers that help behind the scenes, your assistance is very much appreciated.
Golf Croquet played at the Club still is the main version played by members. This is more suitable and easier to play for our elderly members. The Club has 47 women and 20 men currently playing Croquet versions. Ricochet has been drawing up to 16 members per week and Association Croquet has picked up with 9 players attending weekly. It is wonderful to see Lance Turner back at the Club to share his knowledge with the Association players, a huge plus for the Club.
Division 2 Pennants
The Division 2 Golf Pennants are underway with all Northern Area Clubs participating. Cherry Street this year is an all ladies squad with some outstanding talent on display. Robbie Allen, Team Captain, has the squad gelling and playing well with 2 outstanding wins to date.
The Club has some members that are sick and unwell. Our thoughts are with you all wishing you all speedy recoveries and hope to see you back on the lawns soon.
Special thoughts are with a very special member Neville Poynting. Neville has been unwell and will not be returning to play unfortunately. Neville has been a wonderful member and a wonderful ambassador to Croquet in the area, helping out many members over the years with his advice on the game and has helped many members throughout the area making mallets to suit individuals to play the game Croquet.
Neville is well known in the area not only for Croquet but also his fishing expertise. A gifted talented man that has unfortunately hung up his mallet for the last time. Treasured memories always.
Thoughts are with both Neville and Robyn.
